COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

Copenhagen screams “cool”. This is what we had been hearing over at PPD, so we had to check it out for ourselves. We were excited to experience the city’s unique fashion, great food, its popular bike scene, and historic architecture. Outside of the “cool” elements the city had to offer, we wanted to view how the city’s style was infused into its design culture. The PPD team chose to focus on three areas in Copenhagen; its barbershops, its fashion, and the museums. Through our travels, we found that these unique and seemingly unrelated areas help influence the “hip” persona of Copenhagen.

The Copenhagen exhibition was designed as a hybrid of a clothing store, photo gallery, video screening, and lounge. In addition, custom furniture was built specifically to encourage interaction between people who attended the event. Two custom benches and four standing event tables were created to encourage people to exchange dialogue as visitors viewed the photos and video. The photos for the exhibition were selected to give people a visual understanding of some of the daily activities that happen in the city, the distinct architecture, and the laid back lifestyle of its citizens.
